WHY I STARTED RwL?

Catalysts behind the formation of RwL-

  • Depression & Loss – The first and pre-eminent reason for creating RwL is, to create awareness on Depression. We don’t even know, how many of us are battling with this internal disorder. I lost my only best friend because of depression. She committed suicide because no one was there to help her. I blamed myself for not being there when she needed me the most. At that time, I wasn’t quite familiar with the whole concept of depression. Of course, I gained the expertise when years later, I was in her position – failed, lost, hopeless and lonely. So, one of the major reason for creating RwL is to raise depression awareness and help people heal while coping with it or other mood disorders.
  • People’s mental battles – While working for a top MNC, I used to observe people’s frustrations, helplessness, stress and tensions. Continuous deadlines, client delivery, late nights, peer competition, appraisals etc, resulting in health issues, mental breakdowns, dissatisfaction, relationship failures and so on. I could observe their behaviour because a few years ago, I had been in that situation before my consciousness shifted. I always wanted to help my friends and colleagues but somehow never gained the strength of doing so. Gradually, that helping feeling got converted into RwL.
  • Substance abuse – One of my school friends was facing tough times in his life. He lost his parents and to numb his emotional pain he took the help of drugs. I, including my other friends, tried our level best to help him but in no time we lost our friend due to overdose of drugs. That day, I realized that there are several other people like my friend who are suffering from an emotional breakdown in their lives. So, as a tribute to my friend and many others like him, I decided to take RwL more seriously.
  • Life skills and common sense – When I met with a series of failures in life; I realized the importance of basic life skills and qualities that are required for our survival in the real world. I still remember I used to think, I am very talented because I know how to dance, sing, paint and write. And now, I laugh on my thinking because in the real world, what matters most is how well versed you’re with the basic life skills. Some people are God gifted with these qualities like resilience, decision making, intuition, common sense, time management etc. But some are like me, who learn them the hard way. I just want to share some of my experiences and knowledge that I have gained in these past few years to help people in need. Hence, again the need for RwL was felt.
